there are times when I use my turn signals, they do not work at all, but when I turn on my four way flashers for a second and turn them off, the turn signals seem to work. Does anyone out there have a clue as to why this ihappens and is there a solution to amend this problem?

Re: 4 way flasher/turn signal problems
I had the same problem on my 04, it will be more than likely that its a hazard switch thats causing the problem. Had mine covered under warranty, the switch itself is around $100 (canadian) plus labour to install it.

Re: 4 way flasher/turn signal problems
As Jp said it's probably Ur Hazard Switch (Because the Turn Signal Flasher is built into it) its very common problem, and most likely just needs to be replaced.

Re: 4 way flasher/turn signal problems
AHHHHH i love you guys. I just posted about the exact same problem. I thought that my car was possessed. The signal switch would be on "right hand signal". The car won't signal, so I would keep the switch as it is and restart the car. Suddenly, the signals work again.
So you guys are sure it's the hazard switch? |

Re: 4 way flasher/turn signal problems
Pretty sure, that's what fixed mine. It's very common.

Re: 4 way flasher/turn signal problems
I have the same issue, although I've just lived with it 'til now.
Question - how do you get the hazard switch/flasher out of the dash? Bill |

Quote:
A) Use a screw driver to pry off the button, ( which breaks the module underneath ) B) Take the dash off to get at it.. |

Re: 4 way flasher/turn signal problems
OK, thanks.
I presume breaking the module is no big deal, as I'd be replacing it anyway. If I was to try to remove the dash, I see the two vertical screws over the instrument cluster. Where are the other fasteners located? Thanks again............. |

http://impalahq.naioa.com/HowTo/Dash.html
That tells you how to get at the radio which requires you take off the dash, so it explains it all. |

Re: 4 way flasher/turn signal problems
Awesome link. I've avoided changing my passenger comfort control light bulbs because I didn't want to damage anything removing the dash cover. Now I will.

Re: 4 way flasher/turn signal problems
You mean the slider in this pic?
![]() Those are soldered on Bulbs on a VERY senstive cheap chinese PCB. If you don't know how to solder, I wouldn't bother. I'm good at soldering, and even the guy who offers led conversion as a service (He's a Soldering guru) and we've both ruined a few boards.

Re: 4 way flasher/turn signal problems
Yup those are the lights I'm talking about. I can solder quite well and will definitely give it a shot.
I hate it when they put some strange thing like soldered bulbs on a board....? I actually have quite a bit of LED experience as well, so I might even do a LED retrofit if the board is as sensitive and cheap as you say. Unfortunately, it's kinda cold where I live right now, so I will probably be doing this job in the spring....afterall it's old a dash light :P |

Re: 4 way flasher/turn signal problems
Long as you know what your doing. Cuz if you mess up You'll know how to fix it, and not sit there dumbfounded.
LED conversion is the way to go for the whole interior. Like mine:![]() ![]() ![]()
