99 eclipse gsx

just bought a 99 gsx auto, and i need to know if it is possible and wat would be involved in swapping the automatic over to a 5 spd. I have a 1 gen gst 5 spd that i can buy but will the 1 gen tranny work in the 2nd gen? also will the gst tranny work on the gsx? i really need advice on this, so please anyone with proper knowledge please let me know.

First off welcome to AF. Second off please read the FAQ this topic has been answerd thousands of times. and just to answer it no it will not work. the GSX and GST trannys are diffrent.

The 1st gen tranny could work, but the motor mounts between a 1g and 2g tranny are different. So in simple swap essence, no it will not work. Unless you wanna be cutting mounts and rewelding them into different positions... Also, the GST and GSX trannys are different. GST's are only FWD trannys, while GSX trannys are only for AWD as there is an opening for the transfer case to attach to it...
