In reality, it's just polystyrene foam blocks. At my old work, we did much of the same stuff, hitting each other. Depending on the density of the foam it could break with minimal effort.
It's still funny after the fifth time watching it. I think my favorite part is when he's bashing the kids face down into the pile .. bam! bamm! bammm! Or when the kids are running and he takes their legs out from under them..and they get owned... funny stuff.
