1987 Firebird formula
anyone have any good or bad comments about the `87 firebirds . 305 auto . Looking from a long distance at said unit . Supposedly in mint condition ,50,000 miles . never winter driven . or how about the `88 version ,30,000 miles v-6. either one may become my mid life crisis car....lol.

I have had a few of both, and from my personal experience you should go with the 305. The 2.8s are a durable motor but are notorious for oil leaks and are pretty gutless, not to mention you open that nice long hood and see that little thing. The 305s get only a couple less miles per gallon and from my experience if well maintained go 150-200K. Either way they are very fun and handle like an absolute dream. Good luck!

Re: 1987 Firebird formula
go on www.craigslist.org and look up your city and click on cars and trucks and your should find some in your area. i have an 88 trans am and it was in perfect condition with a new 305ci (only 500 miles) motor in it with 59500 on the chasis and i picked it up for $4900.
