Gear Shift Knob-Cutlass Supreme

On my 95 Olds Cutlass Supreme, the button on my shift knob will not press in making it impossible to shift from park. I have read that other cars have a switch on the brake which activates a solenoid that releases the button. I have not been able to confirm if this is how the Cutlass works. I have located a switch on the brake and verified the voltage coming off of the switch being 12V. I don't know where the solenoid is located. I have a suspicion that it is on the knob itself, but I can't see how to remove the knob. Anyones input would be appreciated.

Re: Gear Shift Knob

Welcome to AF.

The shift knob comes off by removing the horseshoe clip in the front of the shifter.
you'll see a small slot, a small screw driver usually will reteive it.

Pretty sure the shift interupt solenoid is inside the console.
