tire size

As I said before I'm in the market for a 93-95 325i, and I'm just listing all the shit I'm gonna get. Is it better on a 18X8.5 wheel to get 225-40-18 tires, or 235-40-18? I'm used to driving my civic and worrying about scraping the tire on the fenders, is this actually a problem on bmw's if they are moderately lowered (not slammed)?
