a couple of domestic kills

So I had a bad day a few weeks ago, so I headed out to the bar, only to find more drama there and very little stress relief. So before my driving got impaired, and before I ended up punching somebody...I decided it was time to leave, and take my frustrations out by wasting some gas in the vr4.

A few miles later I find myself lined up with a white 4th gen z28, who has the audacity to rev at me I look over and see a nice young girl driving with an even younger looking guy sitting next to her. While they had a perfectly nice v8 with exhaust, my lack of any exhaust made my rev just a tad louder...I wanted to make sure if the race was being decided by obnoxiously loud reving...I was gonna win. So I took it up to 6k.

The girl seemed a tad startled, but did not admit defeat yet, so I decided I should prepare to launch..and that I did. While wondering if it's an LT1 or LS1, the light goes green and I bump the revs one last time, slip the clutch at 4k and get out of the hole 'well'..but not as ridiculously fast as I wanted. She actually manages to launch quite well, without insane amounts of tire spin and keeps her front bumper within a quarter length of my rear. Sweet now it's on.

First gear, not a whole lot changes, 2nd, I seem to put another car length or so on her. Third is just nuts because we are now entering an area where I know, for a fact, the cops love to hide and pull people over as the speed limit drops 10mph (hypothetically of course, because we all know racing is illegal and I would never take part in such events)...neither of us are showing signs of letting off.

Now about a 1/4 mile down the road, the 2 lanes merge to one, the road enters a 'town' and I have no desire to be doing any more than 35 through there. Briefly I contemplate tossing on my blinkers to declare victory, but decide shifting to 4th and staying on the gas a tad longer is clearly the less 'ricer-ish' move. So I shift to 4th, hoping this girl's brakes are in as good condition as mine, take it to 115, put another half a car or so on her and nail my brakes. Immediately she does the same which puts a smile on my face (it's nice to see somebody so young concerned with potential up-coming pedestrian traffic...even at 1am)

I let her pull in front, follow her to the next light, and chat a bit. She says the car is her older brother's, but he's cool with her driving it. She knows it has exhaust, but not sure what else. Nice girl. I think her adolescent boy-toy was a tad jealous and/or high, because he didn't speak at all and barely made eye-contact. She thanked me for a good race, I did the same and we parted ways.

I start doing laps of the town looking for something to run. A maxima apparently raced and beat me at some point, but I couldn't tell you what happened, because I wasn't aware we were racing at any given point..but he was nice enough to inform me at the next red light. I launched at 5.5k to make sure it didn't happen again.

A few miles later I find myself pacing a new 300hp Mustang in 2nd...hoping he bites. Windows are tinted extremely dark and it's 1:30am, so I can't see a damn thing, but apparently he/she got the idea. The mustang jumped and I was instantly on boost and a tad behind its door. I pulled even at the top of 2nd and nailed 3rd with every intention of embarrasing this Ford. 3rd I put a couple more car lengths on the stang and it let up for a moment. As I let up, he punches it again (for what reason, I have no idea). Still high in the rpms, boost was instantaneous and my nose lifted and I pulled on him again. He let off, but I topped out 3rd to make the victory clear in everyone's mind.

I turned around, headed home, my frown...now turned upside-down

cliff notes: I beat a stang and a camaro, and lost to a maxima...go figure
