'99 Cherokee Stalls..

I have a '99 Cherokee, 4WD, automatic. He started stalling on me recently. The first time the check engine light came on and I went from a 1/4 to no gas. The second time was when I was turning after a stop light. I took him in to be checked out. The mechanic said it's probably a computer problem. They cleaned the batteries and plugs (something like that). The next day, he stalled again as I was turning. The check engine light came on as well.

Any suggestions on how to get this fixed would be greatly appreciated. I've read many threads about similar problems, but they seem only to have bits and pieces of my problem.

I also have two other problems. The auto windows only roll down on the drivers side. It's not the safety lock, I checked that. We had them fixed, they worked for two days, and now they don't work again. My front speakers don't work as well. He's a pain in my butt.

Re: '99 Cherokee Stalls..

My '98 Grand stalls if I make a fairly-hard left at less than a 1/4 tank.

Does it only stall when turning left or right? Or is there a difference between hard and soft turns?

Also what code is you Jeep throwing?

Reply to two posts here:

Megan....there was a recall on the gas gage being off and people ran out of gas...like myself on a 1997 XJ.

Check engine lights give a code. Have Auto Zone retrieve it for you so we can identify the issue. There is a sticky on this.

The window problem is detailed at the top of this forum on a sticky.

Front speaker are a wire harness problem....just run new wires to them.

SirXJ...your prob with the Grand...ZJ or what...sounds like the Camaro. The gasoline sloshes to one side because of poor design in the gas tank. This does not apply to XJs.

Edit: maybe they used the same gas gage as the XJ??? I don't anything about Grands.
