84 caprice wipers wont turn on

I have a 1984 caprice with the 305 4bbl with 46000 miles. Last night my wipers just stoped working all together so far I have checked the fuse and cleaned the connections on the wiper motor and did some small inspections on the lever.

the wipers just stoped working while driving in very slight misty conditions so I did not have them on any setting at all. I just rolled he switch to mist every once and a while to get rid of the small ammount of water on my windsheild. And then they just stopped working one time when I hit the switch over.

is there anything else I should check out to get my wipers working again or am I gonna have to drive around blind tonite to work?

I fixed it, its a temp fix for sure but this is what I did.

I just took an old power wire from my previous sound system and conencted that to my positive battery post. I had the original intention of wiring it with a toggle switch and rolling with that until I could dig deeper into it. So I just was testing the motor itself first and conencted the two positve terminals on the constant motor together. some sparks threw and the motor whined and turned over and reset my wipers back to there normal position.

it seemed like jumping a starter with a screwdriver so I decided to see if they worked now, so I reconnected the wiring connectors and viola they work.

obviously this is a temporary fix and I should get a new motor soon because if they are anything like starters its ready to die pretty soon I just gave it a little life left.

yea my 1985 caprice wiper motor died just 2 or 3 days ago. we stopped and got a new (reman) wiper motor and it fixed the problem.
