94 Lumina APV blows Ignition Fuse
My 94 Lumina Van with 3.1 blows Ignition fuse when heater A/C controls are used also killing my charging system on same fuse. If I unplug A/C relay under hood fuse will not blow and controls operate. I have tried unplugging A/C compressor and pressure switches and it still blows fuse.

Re: 94 Lumina APV blows Ignition Fuse
It blows the 15 amp IGN fuse in fuse panel 25 amp heater fuse is fine. When ignition fuse is good and A/C relay is unhooked both front and rear blowers work on all speeds. I found a fuseable link one of the 2 red wires hooked together with one terminal at starter that was burned in two at starter solenoid and was keeping my battery from charging. I installed a new fusible link and all heater and blower controls power up unless I plug that A/C relay in and then fuse blows. This van has not been run since 1998. It quit running and company that owned left it sit. I replaced ecm because it would not send power to injecters. New ecm got noid lights flashing at injecters but injecters would not squirt fuel. I installed new injecters and it started right up and runs great. Now Im chasing down these other Gremlins. It may have had some kind of electrical failure that burned everything out but Im not sure. I would like to see if the A/C works but thats where my short is and Alldata does not have that circuit diagram for relays.
Thanks for any help. |

Re: 94 Lumina APV blows Ignition Fuse
..I'd like to understand the 15A fuse is the one in the convenience center UNDER glove box...is it?
www.avigex.ca/xport/accompressorcontrol.jpg EDIT THIS IS WITH 3.8 Then you definitely have a short in the compressor clutch circuit. This is more probable by the fact it happens only when you plug the relay IN.... If the 15A fuse was the one in the fuse box IN the glove box, then you'd probably have a short in the compressor control circuit, that is the high and low pressure switches that signal the computer to ask for the compressor clutch...but I do not see why that would happen only with the relay in place... My diagrams are from '93...but I think there were not much difference in that area....Nicke66 has the '95 manual...he could confirm or deny that...I'll ask him to kick in... EDIT: ...ahhh...sorry...my mistake: i referred to diagrams for 3.8...3.1 is a little different. www.avigex.ca/xport/accompressorcontrol31.jpg Indeed there is only ONE 15 A in the fuse block inside glove box that serves both circuits...but the conclusion is the same: you then have a short in the clutch circuit by the fact it happens only when you plug the relay IN.
