Parking brake malfunction...

Is there a way to reset the Parking Brake???
One day I released it, and ever since it doesn't hold at all, like it's not even there....Anybody????
P.S. All of you guys have been EXTREMELY helpful!!!

the parking brake is a mechanical linkage. Most of this linkage is behind the rear axels and on the parking brake pedal. It may need to be lubed and/or rusted out. May need to replace the cable.

May need a wire brush to get the adjuster to move and set the cable tension.

Look at the cable under the car and see if it is still attached to the brake. I had a '98 and the cable broke and had to be replaced. You can follow it from the front to the rear, which are the wheels it locks. Mine broke where the cable ran from the drivers side to the passenger side rear wheel. Good luck.
