05 focus air filter

I went to replace my air filter and was told I have a 150000k filter cartridge in it that has to be purchased from a dealer for $ 250.00. It has a gauge to check the filter life. Anyone have experience with this nonsense. Why does Ford have to engineer something like this? Can I replace it with a a normal airbox setup? Any thoughts would be great.

Re: 05 focus air filter

ok, I will see what happens. My 2000 focus was sold at 220k and I just believe in routine maintance. Sealed ball joints are a perfect example, they don't last as long as the ones you can service with grease. Thanks for the info.
