Idling probs

Hi there,

This is my first time on this Forum and was wondering if anyone could help.
I have a 2004 Laguna 1.9dci Priviledge which has now 77,000 miles on the clock which has just started with this annoying problem.
The car drives fine, No smoke No loss of power at all only every now and again when approaching a junction or coming to a complete stop whilst the clutch is depressed the idle will drop well below tick over and struggle to keep running. Sometimes it will recover and idle ok other times it will cut out, once restarted it will be fine.
I am in the process of changing air and fuel filter to see if that helps.
Anyone with any ideas.

Thanks in advance
Gordon

Re: Idling probs

I had a similar problem to this.

Changing the filters helped a little but it would still occur more regularly that I would like.

I found that the prime pump (under the left hand cover behind the power steering filler) was allowing air into the fuel line, causing a little rough running and, hnce, the occasional stall/loss of power. The fuel lines are clear so you will be able to see any air bubbles going through from the filter.

A friend of mine worked at Renault and said it was a common fault to get some air going through, even on new cars that were being PDI'd for delivery, but if the amount of air going through was small it would cause no problems.

I ended up putting clear silicon around the joints of the prime pump and that cured it nicely!

Only problem I now have is that the sodding car won't do anything!
Inserting the keycard just makes the light on the card reader and the red light for the alarm in the middle of the dashboard flash on and off!

And all this after fitting a new turbo last week!
If anyone needs advice on that feel free to ask - having done it I know the problems you're gonna get!
