Breaks Locking In.

Today I went to the auto shop to get my CV boot & axle (front driver's side) looked at because it looked ripped & grease was everywhere in that area. The Mechanic told me that I needed a new CV Shaft for the whole front side, so that the car can be evenly new on both front sides(new-new compared to old-new).
So they replace the CV Shaft & I drive off.....about 4 miles later my car feels like it's getting pulled or held back....I thought nothing of it thinking maybe the new part has to adjust to being in use.
I stop somewhere to shop....10 minutes later I drive off & I can't even go no faster than 20 MPH...then 10 MPH!
I pull over to look at the CV shaft & it looks ok.....15 minutes later I drive off & everything is fine with the car.

2 Hours later my car is having the same problem...feels like the car is being held back!!!
I FINALLY notice that the break pedel feels slightly compressed & when I look at my break pads they're holding on to the wheel tightly! And once again...15 minutes later after waiting my car rides just fine!

I don't understand....I thought just my CV Shaft was messed up...what does locked breaks have to do with my CV Shaft?

Can someone help me out..please?

Re: Breaks Locking In.

Take the car back and watch them fix it. They did not reassemble the wheel correctly which caused the brakes to hang up. (Is this just one side or both sides?) As for replacing both axle shafts, I think you got the shaft unless the side not leaking showed extensive CV boot rubber cracking.

Yes...they've either got the brake caliper(s) mounted in a bind somehow or they let the calipers hang free by the brake hoses while doing the work and one of the hoses collapsed inside and is holding pressure (very common on older brake hoses when they get twisted or stretched).
