1999 daewoo lanos

a few days ago i replaced the battery in my 1999 lanos. i saw that the car stereo started flashing "code' i don't have the code so i randomly punched in some numbers and after a few the car stereo completely shut off and it wont come back with any type of display. i took the stero out and unplugged it hoping a display might come back but nothing. has anyone else had this problem and was anybody able to get the sereo to come back on?
