getting bigger turbo?

I currently have a big 16g. what is the power difference between Forced Performance Big T28 Turbo and a Mitsubishi 20G-5H Turbo? I was on a website but i could not find enough info to compare them and i don't know too much about turbos. Also if i were to get a bigger turbo what else would i need to get? i know that you're gonna need bigger injectors but thats all i know.

Re: getting bigger turbo?

you're gonna need tuning too to get the most out of the bigger turbo

Re: getting bigger turbo?

The T28 is a little less than the big 16g you have right now IIRC. There is a quite a bit you need before you get a bigger turbo... I bet if you got a respectable mod list you might realize what that 16g can do. Heres a list of things you should (in my opinion) have done before you even consider upgrading turbos:

-FMIC
-Tuning device (DSMlink is what you should really get, but SAFC is an inferior alternative)
-Bigger fuel pump (for the 20g you'll need a Walbro 255)
-Better fuel pressure regulator (255 out flows the stock reg at idle/low RPM)
-Bigger injectors (might as well go big so you dont have to upgrade later)
-3" exhaust
-Aftermarket clutch
-A boost guage
-Boost control (I would get a MBC)
-Cams
-Better BOV (1g if you plan on <20psi, aftermarket if you plan on >20psi)
-K&N air filter

Get that stuff done first and see what you think. I am willing to bet once you get a good tune at higher boost on that 16g you will change your mind about upgrading... at least for now .

Thank you. Currently I have...
- Big16 g turbo
-Apexi N1 exhaust w/ 3" down pipe
- ACT 2600 clutch
-Blitz after market boost gauge // air fuel ratio
- I just took out my manual boost controller..thinking about putting an electronic one in
-GReddy type-RS BOV
-K&N filter

Is a front mount necessary to upgrade the turbo? i was planning on getting one Laterrrrr on.

The next thing that i was going to buy with the bigger turbo is a better exhaust manifold// bigger injectors + pump // and DSM link for tuning. is there anything else I am missing? mainly for safety precautions so i don't mess up the car lol.. thanks

Well, if you are wanting to keep it safe, then yes, you should have a FMIC before a 20g. I mean, you might be able to get away without one at lower boost, but that much air is going to need more cooling action than the SMIC can deliver. Also, are you a 1g or 2g?

I would for sure get DSMlink, bigger injectors, FPR, and a fuel pump before the 20g and I would strongly suggest a FMIC. If you are a 2g, its my feeling that you need a better flowing intake mani too. Theres a couple things you could do, one being a good port job and a SMIM or at least a 1g intake mani. Those stock 2g mani's are fuckin worthless and can choke your car off particularly when you are flowing more air/in higher RPMs.

Also, I have a couple exhaust mani's if you are looking to upgrade, I have a stock 2g mani and a pretty decently ported 2g mani as well, PM me if you're interested.
