Smile how to - replace brakes 04 Grand Am GT

Hi guys,

I've done brakes on several cars I've owned. Been a few years. Looking for step-by-step instructions how to replace front disk brakes on 04 Grand AM GT. Wondering if GM requires special tool for this job...

Suggestions where I can get this info on-line?

Dont know if you can find an 05 manual book form.

Its pretty easy and straight forward, like most disc brakes.

Just pay attention to the way the brake pads are on.
The wear indicator should be on the inside of the disc.

Also when compressing the caliper piston, release the pressure at the bleeder valve.
Pushing that old fluid backwards through the system is not good, and can become a safty issue down the road.

When you replace you lug nuts make sure they are torqued to 100 ft lbs or you're rotors can warp.

I did forget when its apart pull out the slide pins and make sure they are greased well with brake grease, sold in small packages at parts stores.
If its rusty looking, clean them off realy good and clean out where they go in to(caliper mounting braket) and refill with new brake grease.

Hope that helps!

Question Re: how to - replace brakes 04 Grand Am GT

Well... the brake job seemed to be very easy. I test drove the vehicle and discovered a noisy clicking sound... it increases and decreases with the rotating speed of the wheels only when the brakes are applied. And it appears to be coming from the front wheels.

I disassembled the brakes and reassembled. Found nothing... Still getting the rotational clicking sound.

I have no idea what is causing this. I worked only on the brakes... so I doubt the sound is coming from anything else. Suggestions?

The only thing that'll click is the CV joints, does it get worse or do it more when turning ?

Did you use brake grease on the slide pins ??
