Question Lower price after release of 2008 models?

I am looking for a 2007 Pontiac Vibe (at the lower end of the price range, with minimum options). At this point I have a $1,000 rebate from my GM card, but that expires on September 4th. In your experience, how much do cars like the Vibe drop in price once the 2008 models are on the sales floor? From what dealers have told me, the new models should be in by late September, so I'm wondering if the 2007 models they have left will drop more than $1,000. Any advice appreciated, thanks!

Re: Lower price after release of 2008 models?

You should start shopping now - there are deals to be had if you look. I purchased an 07 Vibe base about 2 months ago - auto - with preferred package (that's cruise control, remote entry etc) for 15.8K including taxes and fees which here in California is not exactly small change. Sticker was 19K without taxes and fees although there is a factory rebate of 1K. Base auto without options was going for 14.7K out the door at that dealer. The base manual would have been even cheaper.
