Re: tranny refill help.
the vss is on the firewall side of the tranny. You will see a cable running into it that comes through the drivers side firewall and runs to the vss...personally I don't know why anyone goes through that trouble. The backup switch is on the front of the tranny and is easier to get at. It has two wires running to it and its real easy to see..just make sure you disconnect the wires from it before you wrench it off. Its pretty much directly under the dizzy. 2 liters will fill er for you

Re: tranny refill help.
Its actually on the bottom of the tranny, front side. Under the shift lever.

Re: tranny refill help.
Ive never had a problem with filling it up where your supposed to. Just get a funnel with a flexible tube on it. But even the VSS is easy to do too, its not something thats hard to reach.
but I guess thats just me.

Re: tranny refill help.
I use either an electric pump that will handle heavy weight oils, or use a hand pump, or one of those nice oil bottle caps that has a valve on it, and hook a hose to it.. put the hose in the factory fill location, and open the valve...

Re: tranny refill help.
I'm jealous guys. i would love to fill through the actual fill hole. I will honestly say I have not ever came across a bolt, or nut I can't crack with a little elbow grease, and patience. That F'in fill bolt on my SI tranny just won't come off. I even had the tranny out of the car while I slapped it on my Z6 and I swear I just got sick of messing with it. Not even a pipe wrench will move that sucker. Lol! maybe if I could find a bench vice that will hold a tranny I could crack it. Me working the pipe wrench with a leverage bar, two buddies holding the tranny...lol, they were flip flopping all over the place trying to hold the tranny still. Never came across such a stubborn fastener/plug

Re: tranny refill help.
try a lil heat... get a braising torch and heat it up a lil bit while hitting it with PB blaster or something similar the next time you have it out of the car... then get a socket that will fit it, and somewhat aggressively tap the socket into the plug, toward the tranny.. not so hard you damage it tho... then put a breaker bar into the socket, and make sure it's not going to flop sideways on you (also works with a ratchet you don't care about... or a craftsman/snap-on) and get a 2-3 lb mallet, give it a good smack about halfway down the shaft of the wrench... sometimes constant pressure isn't enough... the force of sudden impact might just jar it enough to loosen the aluminum corrosion from the steel bolt. Do this 4-5 times, and you should be able to turn it with some stress.. just make sure before you put it back in that you clean it and put some anti seize on it...

Plus with a sudden impact, its not as big of a deal to hold the transmission still...helps, but its a little easier to do.
