'94 2.3 quad 4 thermostat

Hello, bought a 94 with the 2.3 quad 4 and have had overheat probs, want to check the thermostat but top housing where it should be is stamped 'thermostat at water pump' found water pump at rear of engine (nice) is the thermo at the pipe going up to wp and is it easy to replace? thank you

not sure but i think its in the hose going to water pump
