3000GT SL vs. Celica GTS
My friend I work with owns a Celica GTS Auto, and thinks he can beat my 94 SL manual. (Keep in mind, this kid argues that his GTS now has 195 HP b/c of his cold air intake) I just wanted to post this to see what other think. Specs are close, GTS has 180HP motor and weighs about 2500 lbs. SL has 222 HP (derr) and weighs about 3500 lbs (again, I'm sure you all know, lol)
The cars are pretty much stock, I have just a short ram intake (who cares right?), copper NGK plugs, and Magnecor wires... and as far as I know the Celica has an intake and a lot of BS behind the wheel. Seems like it would be a close race, but I keep telling him I'd smoke him, what y'all think?

unless u screw up or miss a gear u'll win. power to weight has a lil to do with a drag race(i assume thats wat kind of race) but it doesnt have everything to do with it. u have more tq than he has power, and more power than he has brain cells

Listen easy friggin kill ok, my atx 3000GT has smoked that car b4 keep in mind i had full exhaust with underdrive pulley, torque converter, cai, but still those automatic celicas are godly slow, he had me of the line pretty good, but i pulled on him like crazy and beat him by maybe 3 cars....

If it was a MTX GTS then you would have your hands full for sure but I think it being an auto and you a manual you should not have to much problem. Any chance of a video?

True with a manual gts my hands would be full, but then again i have a 75 shot now, so i think I'd still be in the safe department....

I doubt hes even up for it he's just talkin... But then he says oh yea well I'll just get my 350Z. It's like c-mon money bags let's make it an even fight, lol.

my GF has a celica gt auto and i have a 3000gt sl manual, knowing the power differences, there is no way in hell he could beat you. unless he is keeping modification info. from you like nitro. and or other mods. you will smoke him.
in my opinion its not worth the internal damage to ur car. unless lots of money was involved then inthat case go for and teach him not to mess with a 3000gt. play with fire and you will get burned.

your kinda missing the point, ok the gt is 140 and gts is 180 kool; however the 3000gt is over 220hp. your right there is a difference between 220 and 180.
