Re: Where is Fuse Box 89 Cavy???
Welcome Aboard!
There is a reason the factory protected the circuit at 25A. The light switch, and more importantly, the wiring cannot safely conduct that level of current without overheating. Study the thermal effects of I/R drop factored by the length of a conductor and you may get a better idea of the reason. Incidentally, an '89 Cavalier uses a fusible link and circuit breaker for the headlight circuit, not a fuse. Beyond that, if HID lamps were installed, the circuit should actually use less current, since the ballasts drop current significantly once the lamps strike the arc and vaporize the metals in the lamp capsules. If you're actually talking about the fake HID lamps, they are simply higher wattage incandescents with a colored envelope and/or halide gasses in the lamp envelope. They are not actually HID lamps.
