Ferrari 60th Anniv. Contest Entry - Ferrari 348tb Competition

So, I got a second Ferrari kit trading with klutz, and figured I'd get a couple going. Seems like a fun and easy kit.

Laid down a nice coat of GM Bright White...

All seemed well and good until I began to lay decals...

They're awful. They fall apart worse than even my homemade decals using Testor's paper.

So, the decals are pretty much a bust. Does anyone have a sheet of decals from any competition Ferrari of this period that might look good?

If not, I'll see if I can throw something together from other decals I have, I guess.

If you want I have the same sheet to share, I bought the Repsol S27-cartograf time ago. Just PM me if you want.

I built that kit a while back, the decals were fragile like yours but somehow I managed to get them all on.

Sucks about the decals. Which kit is this?

The F40 Competizione should be pretty similar, but the kit is around $40. Hopefully Gio can help.

Re: Ferrari 60th Anniv. Contest Entry - Ferrari 348tb Competition

I remembered seeing this on stradasports.com:

MSM creation: MSMD026 1/24 Ferrari 348 Challenge Shell

About 1/3 the way down the page:
http://www.stradasportsstore.com/page21.html

$10 for the decals (beats having to buy a whole new kit).

An old Fujimi kit.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I'm going to root through my pile of decals first, to see if I can find something unique and period-correct.

Indeed! But as you say it's the same sheet (from the Fujimi kit?) so I'd probably have the same difficulty. Decals are my bane. I will let you know though, thanks for the offer.

So I found this:

Anyone have good experiences with MSM decals? Good stuff?

Hi John,

I've used the MSM decals before for Nigel Mansells racing suit on my Tamiya Williams FW14B Collectors Club model. They really were excellent decals even sticking down well onto the semi-matt texture of the suit. They also reacted well to Microsol and Microset.I'd certainly recommend them for your model.

Best regards,

Steve.

Um, you did see the post I made about 2 weeks ago with this exact same product?

At any rate, I think you'll find these decals much more durable and easier to use than most kit decals.

Re: Ferrari 60th Anniv. Contest Entry - Ferrari 348tb Competition

Alright, I decided just to ahead with the remaining decals, and salvage what I could. Basically, it's a monotone version of the box-stock car, and I think it looks juuuuust fine. Onward I go.
