Engaged 4 wheel drive for the first time.

I engaged 4 wheel drive (4-high) for the first time after I purchased a 2004 Z71 this past weekend (I followed the manual's instructions to get the vehicle into 4 wheel drive mode)

Question: should the vehicle feel very heavy in this mode? Specifically, when I depress the gas pedal, it really seems that it takes a lot of effort to move the vehicle; very much more so than in 2 wheel drive mode? The front wheels were definitely engaging...I tested over a slight, rocky incline and could tell the truck was pulling itself up the incline.

Thanks!

Matt

Something does not sound right. Usually you can't tell if your in 4 high. Sounds like you have something binding.

Do you have a matched set of tires and wheels?
What transfer case?
Is this the one with automatic button on 4 wheel drive?
