Transmission Fluid capacity

how many quarts does an automatic transmission on a 2000 grand am with a 2.4 engine hold? Also where is the check plug on the tranny, does it have to be running and in park to check? Thansk

If you just drained the pan and done a fluid & filter change then its 7 quarts, maybe a little more.

The check plug is on the pass side of the trans.
But the car needs to be level, and running to check
which is difficult to do if you dont have a lift.
Most oil change places will check it for practicly nothing.
