'53 Chevy pickup

Here's another commission work. A '53 Chevy 5-window. The jade green was a fun color to match.

I used Prismacolors on this one. Time: about 15 hours.

Thanks, B

Re: '53 Chevy pickup

Thanks guys!

racerx66: Yeah doing a white vehicle takes more grays than you'd think. This concept was the hardest thing for me to get over in drawing vehicles... You have to draw/paint what you actually see, not what your head tells you is there. Did that make any sense? Like I'm driving through town and I'll look at a black car. My head tells me it's black, but I have to move past that and see the blues of the sky, the hard reflections of the surroundings, and the white of the sunbursts in the paint. It really messes with your head.

rexins: Yeah, the grass took awhile, but not as long as I figured it would. It helps to lay down a base color like pale green then take yellows and dark/medium greens over that.

Thanks again, B

Re: '53 Chevy pickup

I love it, man... that's awesome! that's my favorite style/generation of chevy trucks too. I love the color and realism of it. what kind of paper are you using?

Re: '53 Chevy pickup

Thanks again for the kind words guys!

Alex: I use A3 size CampAp brand paper. It's made in Malaysia. I still think it's too grainy, but it's been working ok for me. It seems to eat up alot of color, but then, Prismas are really soft.

Thanks, B
