Angry 2001 monte carlo ss BLOWER FAN???!

so... i'm 8 months pregnant... and in terrible need of the a/c since it is AUGUST! and today after leaving my dr. appointment, the a/c all of the sudden will not work, EXCEPT on the highest setting (5). The heat is also doing this, so I think it is not an actual a/c problem, but a blower fan problem??? could someone please help?? It does work but only on the highest setting!!

Re: 2001 monte carlo ss BLOWER FAN???!

You have a bad blower motor resistor. When they fail, you'll start dropping lower speeds until finally have only high left. It is located in the heater box next to the blower motor under the dash on the passenger side of the car. The blower motor will have to be removed to access the resistor. There are two different ones for your car. One for standard single zone a/c (AC-Delco part number 15-8599), and one for dual zone a/c (AC-Delco part number 15-80571).
