Re: highly in need of transmission

Look on E-Bay or the internet for "Geo Metro JDM Transmission" and find your year of car. These are low mile transmissions.

Re: highly in need of transmission

Did the trans not come with a warranty. I thought these typically came with a 1 year/12K mile type warranty. If not you should have looked for one with a warranty. However, it is stiill a big pain to have to keep removing and replacing the trans. There is no ideal answer to this problem - the more money you spend on this the more likely you can get the car back on the road. A new trans would be the best solution but it would be really expensive and I'm not even sure you can buy them new anymore. Rebuilt with a warranty would be the next best solution - I thought I saw them available for around $800. You can also have soemone rebuild yours but it would probably cost around $2000. Finally used/untested with no warranty would be the cheapest but high risk.

You can go to the Teamswift website and see if anyone there is willing to sell you one.

Re: highly in need of transmission

Sorry to hear about your bad experience with an ebay seller. You could also search http://car-part.com/ for a used transmission in your area. Most salvage yards have some type of guarantee/exchange and then you would be working with a local person.
