Squeky Brakes

Hey guys,

My brakes have been screeching for a while. i changed all of the rotors because i thought that was it and nothing. every time i hit the brakes, they begin to screech. there isnt any grinding and the abs arent pumping. the car feels normal but the brakes are killing me. i didnt change the pads because they still had a lot of padding on them. i had changed them a few months prior when they first started squeeling. PLEASE HELP. ANY IDEAS???

Re: Squeky Brakes

I feel your pain. I was tired of the dark dust that my stock brake pads left on my LS wheels, so I bought a set of Performance Friction ceramic pads. They left virtually no dust, so I got a set of the same for my wife's LS as well. While I was at it, I also put new rotors on her LS. Soon my brakes started squealing. If I stopped aggressively, the squealing would go away. I tried the spray on disc brake quiet. No luck. I tried chamfering all edges, no luck. So I took them back to Autozone and they warranteed them for me with a new set since these are sold as quiet and virtually dust free. The new set was quiet for about a week. The brakes on my wife's started squealing too. I didn't bother attempting to warrantee them, I just decided to buy Wagner ThermoQuiets. They aren't quiet either. Not quite as bad as the Performance Friction (yet) but still loud.

Unfortunately, I'm almost tempted to go back to OEM pads and put up with the dust on my wife's LS. I have since sold my LS, but not because of the squealing.

Re: Squeky Brakes

I had the same problem bought a set of the OE Replacement BENDIX Semi-Metallics from Advance Auto and haven't had a problem since (only about 2K miles tho). Hope this is of some help.
