Please Read! - Edited 10/04/07

1. Please do some research on the forums to see if others have experienced your issue.

That's why the old threads exist. There are common
issues that have been asked over and over again. It
seems like some might think it doesn't exist or that no
others have experienced the issue, if it's not on the
first page. Reading through the pages may reveal a fix
for your situation. If you do find some relevant
information on an issue, but the thread is old (more
than 90 days), and you have further questions, please
create a new thread as opposed to inquiring on the old
thread. Many of the participants may have moved on and
will never see your question, see #3 below. Likewise, others may not
post to the old thread in answer to any questions you
may have.

2. Please make informed, intelligent inquiries.

It may be an accepted form of speech on cell phone
networks and instant messengers or chat rooms, but it
doesn't work here. Big, long, run-on sentences (I have
a question and i need an answer because my hair is being
pulled out why does the car not start when the one thing
happens
), capitalizing the first letter of every word
you write (I Have A Question And I Hope That You Can
Answer Me Soon
), and lack of grammar/punctuation make it
hard to read your inquiries. This, in turn, discourages
others from replying or otherwise partaking in your
thread, and questions may go unanswered.

3. Do not be vague.

If you have a question about something, we can't help you unless you
provide all pertinent information regarding the subject to which you
are inquiring. While some of us might be psychotic, we are not psychics
and cannot instantly know all there is to know about your situation.

Thanks Guys (and Gals Too)!

Re: Please Read!

I'd also like to add that if you post a poll, please limit it to 90 days as well. Lately I've seen polls still open after six years. This only encourages newbies who happen to come across them to vote in them , thus resurrecting the whole thread. Also if the poll is still open do not feel the need to add a comment if it is beyond 90 days.

We also have a forum dedicated to selling your vehicles and parts. It is located here:http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...lay.php?f=1269 . It is on the main forum page under Cars/Parts for Sale /Exchange. Please do not try to sell your vehicle or parts in this forum.

Re: Please Read!

I made a suggestion in the pontiac grand prix section a while back, that all threads and polls should have an expiration date, like after a month or however long, they would automaticly close reguardless if someone ressurects it or not.

That has been discussed before and there are things to consider to implement such suggestions. I brought this up quite awhile ago ( http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=675824 )and was told there are extra costs involved along with changing the v bulletin code among others. It's kind of left up to the Moderators to see which threads or polls need to be closed and go ahead and perform those actions.Believe me , I've closed my share of polls/threads in the past few months.

Re: Please Read!

Selling of cars and parts is not allowed in the general forums such as this one. We do have a forum to address this need. It is called Cars/Parts For Sale/Exchange, and can be found here:http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...lay.php?f=1269 and off the main forum page.
