clutch dropped to the floor
Hello. I was down shifting into 2nd about to make a turn when all of a sudden the clutch pedal would not come back up, i had to pull it back up and pump it every time it would not come back up trying to drive back home. I looked in my clutch master cylinder thing and the fluid was really dirty...i had my clutch bled and stuff a couple months ago, My guess is that my clutch master cylinder is leaking or something but i am not too sure. if anyone else has had this problem before any advice would be greatly appreciated. thank you.
I drive a 95 eagle talon TSi AWD w/ 92 head. |

Re: clutch dropped to the floor
update:: i got my clutch master cylinder replaced and it doesn't drop to the floor anymore but after driving for about 5 minutes or so the clutch gets stiffer and harder to press down, when i press it down it literally pops back up. before the first 5 minutes of driving the clutch feels normal and the friction point is fairly low but after the 5 minutes and when the clutch pedal gets stiffer the friction point gets quite higher. I have a 95 eagle talon tsi awd w/ ACT 2600 clutch. if anyone can help that would be great, thx

With the ACT 2600 it should be hard to push down. If you were having problems with your Master Cylinder the clutch could have been a little easier to push because of the lack of fluid within the system. I remember my ACT 2600 clutch feeling exactly like the clutch in my cobra with a t-5, pretty damn stiff. Also the clutch is supposed to pop back into place. When you say friction point, do you mean engagement point of the clutch?

Is it affecting your driving at all? IE are you noticing anything else wrong other than your pedal?

Re: clutch dropped to the floor
The last time i had my clutch bled it was filled with regular DOT 3 fluid....after i had the clutch master cylinder installed it was filled with DOT 3 synthetic. I know mixing motor oils is bad but is clutch/brake fluid mixing bad also? is it possible that that is the reason for the clutch acting weird?

Since you have had the master cylinder replace, have you checked the slave cylinder just to make sure that is indeed good? If that checks good I would check the clutch cable. If that turns out fine than the only thing left would be to remove your tranny and have a look at your clutch flywheel, and TOB.

Re: clutch dropped to the floor
Now it is going back to how it was a while ago...not going in gear sometimes (makes grinding noise when i try to move it into gear) and when i shift the clutch feels softer and makes a grinding noise when i try to put it in gear. The pressure plate and clutch cable seem to be ok...and i already replaced the master cylinder....so hopefully my last bet is the slave cylinder?
