Question glove box broken

i have a 99 regal ls with 30,000 miles. recently, the glove box broke where it attatches on the bottom. there are 3 pieces of plastic and 3 screws that hold it in place.

does the century have the same exact dash as the regal? that might help my search: 1997-2004 regal or century with grey interior...?

i have searched and haven't found that others have had this problem. maybe it broke from being opened every time i need to open the trunk with the yellow trunk button? what a dumb place for the trunk button! the dealer wants over $200 and i'm not having any luck at the local junk yards or ebay.

Re: glove box broken

You say you haven't had any luck at the salvage yards, did anybody there use a Hollander Interchange Manual to see if the Century will work? Sometimes you have to ask as the help either doesn't know how to use them(if they even use them)or might be lazy and not deal with your problem. Call around and ask the yards if they know if the parts are interchangeable.

Re: glove box broken

My glove box also broke the first week I purchased my Regal 2000 LS. I too went to the dealer, but there was no way I was going to fish out $240. I just
took it apart and used longer screws. Fortunately, some threading remained from where the the plastic broke off. Was a PITA to do, but I managed, and saved myself a ton of money. Dont know how bad the damage is to yours, but
try doing it yourself. Just take your time. Good Luck.

Re: glove box broken

The '97 and up Regal and Century glove boxes are identical and use the same fastening system to the dash frame and have the same old plastic parts that break at the hinge.

Re: glove box broken

While on vacation in Colorado, I found a perfect match glove box...for $15! That was much better than a junkyard across the country offered me, over the internet, for $55! Thanks for the help everyone!
