2000 Blazer cruise not working, skicky pedal

I have a 2000 Chevy Blazer LT 4x4 4.3L and For the past few months my cruise has stopped working, or if i can get it to work it will shut off by itself after about 5 minutes. I also have felt the gas pedal sticking occasionally, and sometime hard to excellerate from a higher speed. Especially in the morning when i go to take off the pedal is very hard to press for the first time, also one time when i was passing someone, i let off the gas and the pedal stayed there and actually starting speeding up to 80mph, before i got my foot under it and kicked it out, from where it was stuck. So can anyone tell me the problem here?, i think the cable is just worn out, but i may be missing something here because i heard of having a very dirty throttle body can also make it sticky?

I would try cleaning the throttle plate as you suggested. They get gummed up pretty bad around the outside edge of the plate. You may want to take the plate off and clean the underside of it too. You would be suprised at how much gunk is caked on the underside of it. Carb cleaner and a old toothbrush works pretty good.

Keep in mind that you still could have a bad cable, but I would start there first.
