f250 electrical problems

i just replaced the clutch master cylinder in my 92 f250. i don't what i did but all of a sudden my speedo, odometer, stereo, in
terior lights, power mirrors don't work. i don't know if i pulled something loose when i was replacing the master or what. what do all of those things have in common that would make them all stop working at the same time?

Re: f250 electrical problems

You probably did accidentally pull something loose, check under the dash in or around the area where you were working, there is probably a connector hanging in the air.

Re: f250 electrical problems

I wonder if your ground is connected. I had a car that did the samething. It the motor ran but nothing else did.

It turned out that the ground wire was corroded.

Have you checked your fusebox to see if you have a blown fuse? I don't know about the speedo and odometer, but the radio, interior lights and power mirrors might easily share a fuse.

Unhappy Re: f250 electrical problems

This is similar to my electrical problem in my '03 F250 SD. My alt/battery light came on and I checked the alt. It indicated it was not charging so I replaced it. Several miles later the light came back on, but would go out after hitting a bump or backing up. I checked the alt again and it was charging the battery. Now the truck will start fine, run most of the time without the light on but, now the ABS light comes on. When the ABS light is on, the truck begins to run like crap. When I turn off the truck it won't restart due to a dead battery. The battery is new as is the alt. I have check most of the connections to no avail, the ABS light is still on. Is there any particular connection I should be looking at? When the ABS light is on, the truck will run for about 5 miles before the wipers go on, all the gauges go goofy, and the truck eventually dies. I can jump it to get it started, but it will only run for several minutes before dying again. It has restarted and run for several days just fine. Then this morning it was the ABS light and not starting after shutdown again. Where is my electrical gremlin hiding??

Re: f250 electrical problems

Check battery cables, both ends. Connectors and all grounds both under the hood and under the dash. Make sure any ground straps between the frame, body and groung cables are clean.
