Any thoughts for the upcoming season?
Well preseason is under way so I thought i'd start a thread on what members that watch the NFL are looking forward to, who you rooting for, who you expect to come through on your fantasy team, just any thoughts for the upcoming season.
For now, i'll just post my top picks. My big game NFC pick of course is the Saints. Hands down the best team in the NFC. They got a lot of weapons on offense and if they use Reggie Bush some more this year they will give any team a run for their money. But Eagles may be tough also as long as McNabb stays healthy. Who knows how much better their record would have been if he didn't get hurt. Dallas and San Fran may step it up this year too. AFC is tough. Lots of good teams. Steelers, Chargers, Colts, Pats, Ravens, Broncos to a lesser extent (that's also my home team). I'd say either Colts or Pats. After all, you can't go wrong with Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison. I was very happy to hear that Randy Moss ended up in New England. He has a great chance to help lead this team to the big game again. I am a huge Moss fan and believe he is one of the best WR of all time. He's big, he can run, and he can catch, even with double coverage. He's got a great quarterback to get him the ball in Tom Brady. If we see the same Moss from the old Viking days this team will certainly go far. opcorn:

I'm all about the Bears BTW. Got Mike Brown and Tommie Harris back, got Briggs for this year, signed Darwin Walker, added Adam Archuletta who will do great playing in Lovie's scheme again, and drafted Greg Olsen.

). It would be awful for them to perform like they did last year again this year, so I'll pretty much be happy with any improvement. Sure, I hope something MUCH better happens, but I'm not holding my breath. Tons of new coaches, including head coach Mike Tomlin, and hoping that moron Roethlisberger doesn't try to eat another windshield... it might be a "growth" year. We'll see.Goodness knows I'm watching tonight at 7:30!

Re: Any thoughts for the upcoming season?
Ah PPPP time again
(Pointless Preseason Playoff Predictions) one of my favorite times of year. I'll start NFC Central (or North): Aside from being my hometown squad, the Bears have earned my confidence after a shaky offseason. Offense is looking good with a rejuvinated receiver core and a defense that could be even better than last year. East: Always a tough battle inside this division since they cannibalize each other every year. I want to pick the Eagles cause I like D Mac and I know he's eager to get back on the field but he hasn't completed a season in like 4 years and their offense didn't seem to get any better. That being said, Dallas should take this division with a strong D and consistent O South: The Falcons have been disappointing in recent years and now they're a joke since it seems Joey Harrington will be taking snaps... good luck with that Atlanta. The Saints are strong and should take the division with relative ease since both TB and Carolina have deficiencies on both sides of the ball. West: This is a tough division because the teams don't stand out from one another. SF seems ready to take the division but I question their receiver core and Frank Gore can't do it on his own... well maybe he can. St Louis has extremely potent offense but their defense is consistently terrible. Arizona should have a sweet offense but their o-line constantly fails them and ruins it. Their D aint bad either. Seattle didn't improve offense in the draft but their defense is still the best in the West. So I guess I'd pick the 49ers to win the division. Wildcard: If Eli comes alive in his 3rd year as starting QB then the Gaints can make noise in the NFC. I have my doubts about their team chemistry since Tom Coughlin lets his team self destruct in the second half every for the last 2 seasons but aside from that they're formidable. Steve Smith should be a welcome addition for Eli to throw to. AFC (booooo )North: Baltimore is still strong and I can't find a reason to doubt they will take the division. As much as I like the Bengals on offense, their D is not so hot. They got a lot of turnovers last season but that wasn't enough to get by and it won't be this year either. East: *sigh* Super Team aka the Patriots have ridiculous talent all over the place and the Jets, Dolphins, and Bills will be unwilling victims to their power this season. South: While the Colts have less big name talent on the roster, they still have the best QB in the league. Marvelous Marvin is no slouch either. Defense will be their potential downfall, but that's been the story since 2002 so who am I to doubt them... especially after the unfortunate events of 2/4/07 West: I like the Broncos and Chiefs both on D and O but San Diego has the most dangerous man in cleats on their side. Might as well strap a cape on him and put an S on his chest. Oakland will be the whipping boy of that division again. Wildcard: This one is tough. Broncos vs Chiefs vs Bengals. I think Denver will make it with a pretty favorable schedule. Playoffs: NFC Championship could definitely feature Bears vs Saints again and hopefully history will repeat itself. I hope Mr Bush has learned not to taunt Brian Urlacher anymore... he holds grudges. AFC Championship could also be a rematch of PAts and Chargers from last year. San Diego will take advantage of home field this time around. SB XLIII: You know how I roll ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: Any thoughts for the upcoming season?
Well first I gotta say that I was born and raised in Viking country so naturally i'm gonna despise the Bears
However I can't deny that they are also one of the NFCs best, let alone one of the best defenses in the league. I just don't know about Rex Grossman. Defense can get the job done for most of the season, but they're gonna need a little offense at some point and Rex seems a little shaky to me. But who knows? Saints should be able to score a lot this year. They should be very successful in the running game with two great backs who will probably share the ball a lot more and be able to fool a lot of run defenses. Plus Reggie is a great all around player for that squad since he can run, catch, and play special teams. Colston should see some catches from Brees too. It is definitely a strong possibility these two teams will meet again in the NFC championship and we may see more grudges and/or punishment than last year. Quote:

Re: Any thoughts for the upcoming season?
Don't get me wrong... I love my Steelers... I think I really would bleed black and gold if cut... but I think it's a growth year. A lot of the boys were complaining about Tomlin's training camp, and thus far they look alright (well, the 3rd string looks alright). I'm glad that Charlie Batch is still around and looking good as back-up QB, but St. Pierre hasn't really held up as well. I'm STOKED to see Gardocki off the field, as his last few seasons have been downright sad. Jeff Reed (FG kicker) hasn't looked so hot, either... and he's my boy, so that's hard to watch. I don't know... Knowing that the Steelers are the only team to go 6th seed to Super Bowl Champs, I'm willing to keep my cool and wait to see how things unfold.
