I just picked up a 1991 Ford Ranger and it has the electronic 4 wheel drive selector. When i hit 4x4, the light beside the button lights up, and 4x4 appears near the gauges...but it will not go into 4 wheel drive, so i was wondering if there was a way to check the electronic motor on teh transfer case w/o taking it off. Also, when i click 4x4 Low it dosn't do anything...its almost like its not hooked up...any ideas on what would cause that?

Re: 1991 4X4 Problems?
it probably is the electric motor that engages the 4wd.. you can crawl underneith the truck and engage the motor manually but i dont know how you do it
