help 98 4.0 cranks, no start

help my 98 cherokee just laid down, got in to start to go to twon abd motor cranks over fine, but no fire, or fuel, pluss fuel gauge is not working now ether, replaced ground cable, and cleaned pos cable,,,,,,man had just parked nite before, put scanner on and says no unable to commuite help,,,,,,,,,,

Start with the basics what's the battery charge like, do you have spark, do you hear the fuel pump engage when the key is turned to run position. If you have all that check the vacuum lines on the intake manifold to make sure none are damaged or disconnected. You should also check the sticky at the top of the forum it gives excellent troubleshooting steps and advice for no start problems. Another thing that seems to be a rash of failures is the CPS (crankshaft position sensor). There's tons of info on here about how to check and test that.

well no spark, and no fuel pump sound,keep thinking cps,but the fuel gauge not working at same time messes with my head, we'll check the sticky,,,,thanks,,miss driving my girl

I had the same thing happen with my 1997 jeep sport.it would not fire,no fuel,gas gage read empty,had it scanned and would not let me in the computer.i replaced the computer and it started right up.remanufactured cardone at www.rockauto.com 203.00 after core.
