Escort won't idle!!

I have a '99 Escort that cuts off while idling sometimes(frequently). Just started out of the blue a few weeks ago.The fuel pressure is fine...so is the map sensor. anyone have any other ideas?...i've also checked for vacuum leaks.

Re: Escort won't idle!!

Remove and clean the idle air control motor. It is simple to get to and once removed turn it over and spray the pintle with some throttle body cleaner. Then spray a little WD 40 into the opening as well. This will lubricate it. Also clean the hole in the throttle body with the throttle body cleaner. Don't use anything else here just the throttle body cleaner. This should improve the idle quality. Also make sure the PCV valve is operating. If it is clogged it can cause idle issues as well.
