2006 impala A/C quirk question
Greeting all:
I have a 06 impala that the compressor comes on (which of course chills the air) when the control is set to vent (not floor or defrost) and I choose the recirculate option. I have never had a vehicle that the compressor always ran on recirculate. My manual that came with the car doesn't say anything about that happening. Is this normal on the 06 and up impala? Thanks in advance. Greg |

This may be normal. Some newer GM's do this.

Re: 2006 impala A/C quirk question
many cars do this using the evaporator core as a dehumidifier.

Re: 2006 impala A/C quirk question
I'm pretty sure that the air doesn't come on defrost because if it's hot outside and the cold air hits the windshield it's possible that the windshield can crack. That's what I've heard anyways.

It doesn't cycle enough to chill the air, only to remove moisture from it.

Re: 2006 impala A/C quirk question
i have never had that issue with mine, it burns too much gas to have the a/c on in my SS the only time it comes on by itself is on defrost
