1st and 2nd gear problems
I am having problems getting my Galant VR4 into 1st and 2nd gear. It wont go in at all, when I try to put it in it feels like theres something blocking it. When I take off I have to start in 3rd. It happened all of a sudden. Yesterday I did a hard pull to see how much boost I was running, because I just installed my gauge, I shifted missed 3rd gear, and when I came to a stop I didn't have first. But when I down shifted to first it went right in. It only doesn't go in from a stop. Today, after a long drive on the highway, I came to a stop and then I didn't have 2nd. Now I can't go into 1st or 2nd. What can be the problem?? I am thinking it can be the shift linkage, or something. Hopefully its not a shift fork or sychro. Any ideas will help.

Re: 1st and 2nd gear problems
Dude, its not that hard. Go to the "Problem Diagnosis" sub forum (which the thread starter should have by the way) and look for the "New Thread" button.
As far as your problem, if you suspected a shift linkage why didnt you just check? Thats what I am putting my money on, I think if something grenaded inside you would have NO first gear period. Check/adjust your shit and give her another check. Oh second thought, might be a fucked slave cylinder. Does it just need a couple pumps before you can engage it? |
