Re: poor pick up

It could be any number of things .
1 What size of engine ,how many clicks on it .
2 -Any mods been done to engine..
3 -Are there any idiot lights on?
4 -When was last tune up ? Have plug wires been changed .
5 -how about the fuel and air filter ,new or old .
6 -how does the engine perform otherwise good or does it sputter?

Re: poor pick up

Does the engine rev when you step on the gas, or does it bog down?

Re: poor pick up

it does nothing, does not rev or anything, like at a red light, go to hit the gas and it waits than goes , like i said before , like it is building pressure or something. how do i check for vacume leaks?

Re: poor pick up

In that case I would definitely check for vacuum leaks and have the car scanned for trouble codes. There are little plastic/rubber lines running off the throttle body to your fuel pressure regulator, power brake booster, and evap system. All these lines need to be inspected closely for breaks, cracks, and to make sure they fit snuggly on their connections. Sounds like you need to go buy a Haynes or Chilton manual for your car at this point. You can get them at an auto parts store for $20 and will help you a lot.

Re: poor pick up

I would maybe change the fuel filter and get fuel pressure checked. I had the fuel pump go out on mine 100,000 k,s. Some people use carb cleaner and spray it around throttle body etc with the car running ,it it starts to rev you`ve found a leak. an unlit propane torch has also been used .
