Radiator and condenser

Ok Fellow Saturn lovers. I have a question. 94 Saturn SL 180K miles

Is the Radiator being used as a condenser for the A/C?
The reason I ask is because I have coolant leak which almost over heated my car the other day. But the Coolant leak seems to be comming from the top of the condenser. The coolant hoses seem to plug into what I thought was the radiator..

Then I heard the Raditor is in front of the condenser (meaning you have to pull out the condenser to get to the radiator. if that is the case then why are the hoses running to the condenser?

HELP!!!

Thanks

Re: Radiator and condenser

By 'in front' it means that the condenser is more towards the front of the car. The radiator is closer to the engine. You should not have to remove the condenser to remove the radiator. They are attached to each other but can be separated in car.

Re: Radiator and condenser

I found a condenser and radiator out of a similiar Saturn that matches the one I have. I put them in yesterday and guess what happens!! Today the radiator cracked in the same place my old one did. I am really stumped. I am considering a new one, but before I do that I want to know what could be causing the radiator to bellow out and crack. It is cracking right below the upper radiator hose.. it is plastic.

Thanks to any help!!

Re: Radiator and condenser

The cause is probably a design flaw. These cars are know for radiators cracking near the upper radiator hose.
I have repaired mine with a seam grip for sealing tent seams, etc. It lasts for about 4-6 months, but it is cheaper that buying a new radiator. The only draw back besides all the lobor for removal and reinstallation is that I have the pressure cap very loose to keep the pressure inside the system from blowing out my patch.
