jdm d15b into a 96 dx??

ok, i have a 96 dx coupe. i have a jdm d15b motor with trans and the p08 ecu also. i have a obd2 to obd1 jumper harness also. ok, i was told that i had to do something to the iavc? the d15y7 has a 3 wire and the d15b has a 2 wire? anyone know how to convert that? or what should i do? and than theres the o2 sensor... i can't use the 4 wire o2 sensor on the p08 ecu right? i have to get a p28? can i just use a vx or a ex engine harness and plug and play with this swap or what do i have to do? i also notice the distributer wire plugs are different on each motor also? how do i fix that? any info would help before i do the swap. thanks in advance!

theres ppl on this site that make conversion harness's. just tell them what you need and theyll send it to you. i used rywire.com for my swap but the guy on this site is cheaper and reliable..you could really make this yourself from things at radioshack and the junkyard..but might as well make it easy on yourself and just buy the conversions..i gotta find that guys name..ill get you a link to his page too..

Re: jdm d15b into a 96 dx??

For the IAVC look at this, specifically the Notes part: http://www.ff-squad.com/tech/wiring/wiring.96-98.jpg
Here's a pic of what you do at the ECU (wire is already moved in the pic): http://www.ff-squad.com/tech/wiring/...-98_a-plug.jpg

And yes, you do either need a 1-wire O2 sensor or you need to get the P28 ecu.

Using a different harness is going to be a pain in the ass, because the '96+ Civic ecu goes from the engine straight to the ECU. Unlike the pre '96 Civics (or all year integras) that have connectors seperating it into 2 harnesses. So your best bet is to use your existing harness and modify it yourself. There are 3 important things you're going to need to change; injectors, distributor, and alternator.

For the injectors, simply use your '96 ones and be done with it.

For the alternator, take both of them apart (the '96 and the D15b) and swap the voltage regulators. The voltage regulators are the parts that have the plugs attached to them. You do this because they have different 2 shaped plugs. You'll want to use the D15B housing with the '96 voltage regulator inside of it (so it matches the plug on the harness).

For the distributor, this is where I get myself confused. The '92-'95 plugs are different from the '96-'98 plug, and both are different from the '99-'00 plug. So if you can tell me how many wires your '96 distributor plug has, I'll be able to help you with the wiring (it will be easy). Your plug either has an 8-pin connector or a 10-pin connector. Here's a pic that I made of the different distributor plug, this should help:

Then it's really easy. The #9 and #10 wires of the OBD2A plug, go on the smaller 2nd OBD1 plug. Then you just swap over all the other wires in the exact order they are already in; onto the bigger OBD1 plug.
