"01 Sunfire Trans. and Speedometer problems

Here is the deal, I pulled my 01 Sunfire up on ramps and set the emergency brake to change engine oil. Drained oil and changed filter. Put new oil in and spilt some on intake. I put some liquid dish soap over oil spill and rest of engine (cold engine) then rinsed with garden hose. When I drove the car for the first time the next day it would not shift out of first gear, the "trac off" light came on and the speedometer would not work. I took off the battery cables to reset computer, but that didnt work.

Any ideas????

Sounds like you got water somewhere it shouldn't be. Any chance things work now after some drying time?

Re: "01 Sunfire Trans. and Speedometer problems

Found the problem! I was checking all the electrical connections and crawled underneath and found that the connection on bottom of transmission had came loose. Pushed on it and it clicked back into place and now all is well. Maybe this will help others out with the same problem..Thanks
