Got New Battery, Now A/C Dash Vents Don't Work

I recently changed batteries and now the dashes ac vents don't work. When I turn on the ac to blow at head level, the air comes out of the defrost vent and floor vents. Also, the car's idle is now rougher when the ac is on. Has anyone had any experience with this or know how I can fix this problem?
Thanks

Sometime you have to go through a relearn procedure after you disconnect the battery. Try driving at 30 mph until it warms up. then 60mph for about 10 min. Then slow to 30 mph and back up to 60. I don't think the A/C problem is related.

Re: Got New Battery, Now A/C Dash Vents Don't Work

If the problems are not related, then someone is playing a practical joke on more than one person. My 2003 GMC Envoy is doing the exact same thing. Two weeks ago we replaced the battery and the next day no air through the dash vents. Theres air everywhere else. No matter what I have done or been told to try, nothing has worked. I carried it to a local mechanic, two hours later they called me and told me I had to take it to a GM mechanic. This scares me. Been driving my hubby's truck( he's taking it in stride) so I won't melt. I don't know where you guys are, but the temp here yesterday was over 100 degrees!!!

Update!!!!!

Hubby called Gmc dealership and talked to a mechanic. He knew what the problem was. The guy said that when you replace the battery the power head in the computer loses memory. He said that this was not an uncommon problem. So, I go tomorrow so they can hook it up and send the new codes to the power head. Said it was gonna cost $42.50 plus tax. I can definitely live with this.

Help! I have the same problem, but my dealership wants to replace mode door actuator for $500. Will you please post your dealership info and contact so I can call them?

Have you found a solution to this problem with your dash vents not working? I have the same problem after mine had to be jump started. Don't know what to do and being a sinlge mother finances are tight. Can't keep paying someone to guess and diagnose and come up with nothing.

Re: Got New Battery, Now A/C Dash Vents Don't Work

I recently changed my battery and had trouble with idle as well. Car would stall at idle when A/C, defrost or heater was turned on. I drove it around a parking lot for a while with the heater on eventually, I "taught" it to idle again. But when it was in park, it still stalled. I paid a site online to diagnose it and they suggested cleaning the trottle body. Half a can of cleaner later, the car idles fine. Cost me $2 for the diag, and $4.50 for the cleaner. The rationale was that the computer had "learned" to drive with the dirty throttle body, and when it "relearned" it was set back to "clean" driving conditions. Cleaning set it back closer to original conditions.
