BIG engine
Hey guys i was wondering if anyone knew what is the largest engine you could fit in a 1/10 scale R/C?
I own a Tamiya TGS-R and have already fitted a .15 engine which i bought off eBay a few years ago. I've been looking on eBay and other websites but I'm just unsure an what size. I want an engine with big HP, i was looking at engines on this website: http://www.midlandmodelcentre.co.uk/...arch%26meta%3D thanks in advance Bryan |

Re: BIG engine
.21-.28..
heres my rs4 with a .21. ![]() BTW, big hp does not mean faster, RPM is what matters most. you could have a 5hp .28 in it but it only revs 35k, it will still be slower then a .12 that makes 1.5hp and revs 50k

Re: BIG engine
Hmmm.. thanks for the quick reply
Can you recommend an engine for me.what do you think of these engines? http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXMCA6 http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXHGU5&P=7 http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXMRL7 thanks Bryan |

Re: BIG engine
just had a look at the distance between the mounting holes on the same side and for my .15 it is 11mm and for the .21+ it is 21mm. is it possible to drill hose in the mounts to suit my chassis(engine mount is one with the chassis)? Or does this mean it just won't fit all together?

Re: BIG engine
none of those motors are going to fit without major mods.. and not to mention they will be undriveable. Stuff is going to break as soon as you hit the throttle not to mention its just gonna sit there and spin.. Believe me, thats all my RS4 does.
if you want a good fast motor look into a 12tz from OS, nice little mill with great power from a .12, not to mention LOTS of RPM. Like I said, don't let size fool you when it comes to RC.. RPM is what matters MOST http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXJFY8&P=ML

Re: BIG engine
thanks, is your rs4 4WD? I should have been more specific of what i wanted in my first post.
I'm not really looking for top speed, just something that can get the wheels spinning(all 4's). I don't take my car out to race tracks or parking lots, it's mostly just backyard or in my street. ENGINE MUST BE PULL START! what about this i posted awhile in my other reply http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXHGU5&P=7 ? this any good? thanks Bryan |

Re: BIG engine
what are some of the things you have broken (if any) in your car? will i still strip gears even though the engine won't move side to side eg: clutch bell - spur gear loosing contact then stripping the teeth?

Re: BIG engine
it will strip from to much power.. I've snapped all 3 belts with just a .21..
that turbo .12 will deffinetly get the tires spinning.

Re: BIG engine
sorry to sound annoying but will it still strip even though the gears are meshed perfectly? I've only experienced striped gears is when the engine moves around on the chassis. If raw power can strip well meshed gears...well....I WANT! I WANT!!.hahahaha
my Tamiya has no belts so i don't have to worry about that. Did you have to get a new engine mount for your engine? Are the mounting holes between the standard engine and the .21 totally different? Thanks again |

Re: BIG engine
yes i had to use a big block tmaxx mount and redrill the chassis. It's probably not going to work on any cars but this one.

Re: BIG engine
Thanks for all your help mate
even though you said go for the .12, I'm probably going to get something big.Paying $275.00(AUD) is too much for me. $178.00(AUD) for more power I'll be happy with that. I know I'll probably be spending more keeping it running but meh.. Thanks again Bryan |

Re: BIG engine
you could get a .18TZ for around 130 on there to, that makes 2hp.
