93' Towncar Keeps putting really bad, plZ help

This car has been a pain In the ass for me, It Is a 1993 Lincoln Town Car Signature. It keeps putting really bad and has very little power to It and only gets up to about 20mph and If you try to press the gas pedal down It sounds like Its under water and makes crackling sounds and wont alcelerate. I replaced the Battery,Altenator,Fuel filter and Spark Plugs the wires look almost new. Maybe the EGR Valve? It's pretty musch barely running. I am not much of a mechanic at all just trying to fix this damn thing myself so I don't have to bring It to the shop.

Any help would be great from you guys.
Thank's

I agree.
Is the Check Engine lamp on? If not, is it working? Should come on at first key on to show it's working.

Start with the EGR Channels, Here's a tech article.

Fuel flow should be checked.
Fuel Pump, Fuel Filter, Fuel Injectors.

Yea that would be nice If I could have autozone hook It up but It has to be a 96' or newer for them to hook up the computer. Yea the check engine light has been on for a while, even when the car was running smooth.

Use a jumper wire and read the flashes.

There is a sensor in a metal collar just after the air cleaner. Disconnect it and try it.MAF Sensor. (Car would chug at start and bogg down on highway.) Fixed it in WalGreen parking lot. SIMPLE

I appreciate the self test on the 94 TC . One day a LED light will tell you the O2 Sensor is bad. Until that day I wont take it to Autozone. I feel like I'm giving up. I will trake advantage of the tool barrowing thing when I pull the Pitman arn off to fix leaky seal on steering gear though. Good Luck

If you don't want to buy or borrow a Ford EEC-IV Scanner, you can connect a jumper wire at the Scanner connection plug to make the MIL (check engine lamp, or back then, malfunction indicator lamp) flash out the code numbers of the stored errors.

Example:

FLASH, FLASH, FLASH <pause> FLASH, FLASH, FLASH = Code 33
EGR did not open/ respond during test or if memory code, did not open intermittently.

http://www.troublecodes.net/Ford/ Is an excellent source for learning how to Jumper the EEC-IV connector and looking up the code numbers.
They also show how to read the codes using a test lamp or VOM.

Another very good site for learning these procedures is Corral (a mustang enthusiasts site)

Your EEC-IV Connection Port is under the hood, near the drivers firewall, I think

Alternatively, and a good idea if you plan on keeping 1981 to 1995 Fords around, get yourself a Ford Code Scanner that works on that year range.
They cost about $15 bucks these days. Your local auto parts store should still carry them, here's a few on Ebay right now too:
