yep he's right
any engine will fit, pretty much any engine you can find will fit, ive seen a cavalier with a 454 in it, the only engine you're gonna be able to just bolt right up though is the one your car came with

on another note, where did you get your "ecu chip"?

Re: Engine swap

umm, so do you think that engine in the car is not the original engine of the vehicle?...
and i got the ECU chip at a local custom performance shop, only adds 30-40hp but its enough.

Re: Engine swap

if the car IS a 2000, and your postivie the engine IS an ecotec, then yes, that is not the original engine, that is an undebatable fact

as for you ecu chip adding 30-40 horsepower, that is COMPLETE BULLSHIT, i dont know if you came up with that or if someone told you that figure, but i havent gotten a laugh that good out of these forums in a while, first of all, if your cavalier was made after 1995, it can not, i repeat, CAN NOT be chipped, the only thing i can think of that comes close to an "ecu chip" is those "performance mods" they sell on ebay, you unhook the wire to your IAT (intake air temp) sensor, then just plug this "chip" into that wire, it tricks your engine into thinking its getting colder air, so it pushes more gas into the engine, but since your engine has nothing to burn that extra gas, it just clogs up your injectors really bad and evenutally you lose more power then you started with originally

Re: Engine swap

yeah i'm probly gonna remove that pretty soon then haha. i'm pretty new at this stuff i used to give a shit less about cars now i'm getting into it and its starting to become a hobbie of mine instead of getting in trouble with the law. do you know where i could find another cam i could have installed in the car? i know i've been looking arround and i'm really looking to renewing the hole sunfire engine/body i just need a bit of tips. i'm getting my body kit soon with a carbon fiber hood comes with functional ram intake, and possible bored out/polish. i just got my magnaflow exhaust system put in today.

Re: Engine swap

Does it say "ECOTEC 2.2" on the top of it or just 2200?

Re: Engine swap

why dont u just keep the 2.2l ecotec??? Its a real good platform for modding? it would just be a waste of money to swap engines and if your going to ne way steal 1 out of a z24 not an eclipse(less work)

Re: Engine swap

oh my gosh, the jet chip is complete dogshit too, it will also most likely do more harm then good, like i said before, you can not "chip" a cavalier made after 1994, also, you can not put headers on a 4 cylinder engine, there is only room for 1, and last, but definetely not least, where did you come up with the 200 horespower figure?

Re: Engine swap

Did you Dyno your car or just guessing here, lol you wouldnt be able to get past the 200whp figure even if you got a header, new cat back exhast, intake system. I meen your car stock has 140hp and thats not even at the wheels. And hes right no "chip" they have out there will work for 94 and up.
