How many thousand miles can the gas f series engines get to?
I really want to find a nice 1996 f250 but most of the ones that are in my price range have about 190,000 miles or more, isn't that not alot for a ford if taken care of?

Re: How many thousand miles can the gas f series engines get to?
I had a teacher that had a F 250 or 350, can't remember, w/ a 302. Was a low 90's truck I believe.
Had well over 200,000 miles and still ran strong. Maintains it and doesn't beat on it, and he is creeping up on his goal of 300,000. |

Re: How many thousand miles can the gas f series engines get to?
I am looking to buy an older f series and most of them have about 190,000 miles and i feel that may be too high, i know that some of the models can go longer I mean the engines run from a straight six 300ci engine all the way up to a 460ci v8 engine and am curious which one has the most endurance?

Re: How many thousand miles can the gas f series engines get to?
I had a 77 F250 460/C6 long bed camper special up until a few years ago, had somewhere around 136k on it, was still running great, I still see it around town from time to time.

i have a 1994 F350 1 ton dually, crewcab, with the 460 c.i engine,it has 219k on it, seems to run good, pass's emission tests, burns very little oil, i use it only to tow my 26 ft toy hauler with an all up weight of 11,000 lbs, so it does get "used"

Re: How many thousand miles can the gas f series engines get to?
I had a 94 F-250 w/the 5.8 I bought new and was still running like a charm when I sold her with 260,000 miles on it. I hope for the same w/this 02 V-10 that I have. Maintenance is everything my man.

Re: How many thousand miles can the gas f series engines get to?
My first truck was a 78 F-150 with a 460 with over 200k when I got it. I was 19 and put baha claws on it and took it mudding everyday, usually where no truck was meant to go, so you can imagine what it went through. I busted the radiator and ran out of coolant 2 miles from home and nothing cracked. My dad's 91 van with a 302 has almost 380K and only the rods are making noise, but it's spent a lot of time in michigan winters. Grandpa had an 88 with 5.8 and it has over 400K when he sold it. Depends on how you drive and how you maintain, not exactly in that order.

Re: How many thousand miles can the gas f series engines get to?
I had a 93 F-350 2WD 460 auto 347,900 still on the original engine. Replaced fuel pressure unit, 2 transmissions, 2 alt, 1 water pump. plugs every 50-60K. I bought it new and after 500 miles I ran synthetic oil. 10,000 miles on change oil filter every 5,000 miles. City delivery and long haul use all its life. Sold it in 1999. 49,500 miles a year. No complaints
