Motor Swap 97 318i to 94 318i

I found a 97 318 motor at a junkyard the other day it looks almost EXACTLY like my 94 318, just wondering will it swap out? I called the dealer for an answer and neither the service nor the parts department knew anything about the motors...I personally don't know nor know anyone that does know...
For a good reliable car they really make things complicated ....Why can't they make these cars like human beings!!!!

I believe changes were made between 96 and97 was your 94 a 1.8 cause 97 is 1.9 ,Bill
